Friday, January 27, 2017, 7:30 p.m. - General Meeting, Cobourg Public Library
Speaker: Dr. Mark Williamson
Topic: Snow, Sleds and Solitude – Crossing Algonquin Park and Iceland in Winter

Mark is a professor at Fleming College and part-time instructor at Trent University. After years of teaching students about climate change and the value of experiential education he decided to go and see for himself, completing the first documented, unsupported winter crossing of Algonquin Park on foot, followed by an expedition across Vatnajokull in Iceland, the third largest glacier in the world.

Sunday, January 29, 2017 - Birding Outing to Amherst Island
Leader: Katsu Sakuma

Search the island for owls, hawks, waterfowl, finches and other winter birds. Meet at Hwy. 45 car pool lot at 7:45 a.m. or at Amherst Island ferry dock in Millhaven to catch the 9:30 a.m. ferry. We will have to leave Hwy. 45 at 7:45 a.m. sharp in order to catch the ferry. Fare is $9.00 per car, so carpooling is encouraged. Bring food, water, binoculars and spotting scopes, and dress warmly.
