Directions: The Laurie Lawson Centre is on the north side of Telephone Rd. between Theatre Rd. and Burnham St. There is a small parking lot, but most cars will have to park along the road.

Speaker: Dr. Troy McMullin of the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa
Topic: An introduction to the Secret Life of Lichens

There are over 450 species of lichens native to Southern Ontario, many limited to old-growth forests. Dr. McMullin will discuss their roles in ecosystems around the world and their uses in science and medicine.

A Low Carbon Future For Canada: Making It Real

Sustainable Cobourg invites you to the third in their 2016 Speaker Series, “A Low Carbon Future For Canada: Making It Real.” Guest speaker Ralph Torrie, who has been on the forefront of sustainable energy futures thinking for nearly 40 years, will summarize current understanding of what it would take to make the transition to a sustainable, low carbon energy future. A Q&A will follow the presentation.
